Portable Oxygen Solutions Supports Better Breathers Club At First Health Montgomery Hospital
At Portable Oxygen Solutions, we are committed to being a leading distributor of portable oxygen concentrators. We are a team of dedicated professionals who are very active with organizations that support patients affected by lung disease.
Recently, we were given the privilege to speak to the Better Breathers Club in Troy, North Carolina. The Better Breathers Club is a community based, national support group that is Sponsored by the American Lung Association and was formed to help patients cope with their respiratory ailments. The group is typically run by respiratory therapists, asthma educators, pulmonologists, and patients. Working together as a team, the Better Breathers Club’s goal is to enhance the lives of those with COPD and their families, through educational support.
According to the American Lung Association’s web site, the Better Breathers Club, from many cities and towns across the country, meet regularly and feature educational presentations on a wide range of topics, including:
- How Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) affects the lungs
- Breathing techniques
- Exercise and Fitness Tips
- How to talk to with your physician
- Different types of medications and treatment options available
- Medical tests
- Supplemental oxygen therapy
- Home health care options
- Lung transplants
- Effects of Air pollution
During our meeting, we were asked to discuss the options, benefits, and key differences of the latest portable oxygen concentrators. Those oxygen therapy patients who attended the meeting asked many fantastic questions about topics such as “What is the smallest and lightest weight portable oxygen concentrator available?” This is the most popular question on everyone’s mind who is searching for a portable oxygen solution. At Portable Oxygen Solutions, we offer the best of the best when it comes to portable oxygen concentrators (POC’s) We now have models that weigh less than 4 pounds. That’s less than a bag of sugar from the grocery store! To name a few, the Airsep Focus Portable Oxygen Concentrator, Inogen One G3 portable oxygen concentrator and the Lifechoice ActivOx Portable Oxygen Concentrator are a few of our most appealing POC’s to customers. Each of these units are very popular with our customers because they all are small, inconspicuous and extremely lightweight and offer users the chance to do more with their oxygen.
We were also able to discuss the key differences between a continuous flow portable oxygen concentrator and a pulse-only portable oxygen concentrator and why each would make sense, dependent on your oxygen requirements. Although the continuous flow oxygen concentrators are a bit larger, they do meet a medical need that the smaller, pulse-only devices do not. For users requiring higher flows of supplemental oxygen, a POC offering continuous flow is a nice option that will enable you to remain mobile with your oxygen equipment. The continuous flow models may not be as appealing as the small pulse-only devices but they do allow you to remain active and have the peace-of-mind that you have an oxygen supply capable of getting you through any periods of breathlessness. Our industry continues to challenge the portable concentrator manufacturers to churn out new technology. As a result, we now are able to offer high flow users, lighter weight portable oxygen solutions than we had a few years ago. Those of you who are looking for a reliable continuous flow portable oxygen concentrator should consider the Respironics SimplyGo Portable Oxygen Concentrator which is the lightest 2 liter continuous flow concentrator available. Portable Oxygen Solutions is also an authorized dealer for the highly popular 3 liter continuous flow concentrators such as the SeQual Eclipse 5 portable oxygen concentrator and the all new SeQual Equinox portable oxygen concentrator. Each of these in-demand devices will provide up to 3 liters of continuous flow oxygen and are mobile enough to keep you doing the things you enjoying doing.
When it comes to portable oxygen concentrators, the amount of battery life and the ability to charge the device in your home and in your vehicle is also a hot topic. Having enough battery life is always a consideration when purchasing a portable oxygen concentrator. Battery run-time’s are different for each portable oxygen concentrator for sale and we can help you determine which is best for you, dependent on the amount of prescribed oxygen.
We are always excited to attend these types of Better Breathers Club meetings. We appreciate the discussion with both clinicians and patients alike. This type of interaction allows us to grow as a respiratory company and we enjoy educating oxygen therapy patients on the latest when it comes to portable oxygen solutions that are available to them. It is important to let users know that there are better ways of getting your oxygen therapy than from tanks. Susan Gobush who is Director of Cardiopulmonary at First Health Montgomery Memorial Hospital commented… ”We appreciate you taking time to do an in service; we learned some beneficial information for us as clinicians and to share with our patients.” She also noted that portable oxygen concentrators… ”are great for travel and patients like the fact that they can charge it up while in use either in their car or in their house /hotel room and how lightweight it is.”
A special thanks to Inova Labs, the manufacturer who supplied the Activox Pro Portable Oxygen Concentrator and ActivOx Sport Portable Oxygen Concentrators representing oxygen concentrators less than 5 lbs. Also we would like to thank Respironics who allowed us to display the SimplyGo Portable Oxygen Concentrator that has both continuous flow and pulse dose capabilities.
